Pieces: The Concept

Pieces is my new iPhone application that is styled like a journal but it’s purpose is a little different. I have had users come up to me and say they have used it as a to do list, notes and even for gaming. So I thought I would take a little time to explain the concept behind this application.

A normal journal is for people that sit down at the end of the day and write down each thing that they did, whether it was exciting or not. Each journal entry in Pieces is limited to 140 characters, the same as twitter, to keep it short and sweet. You don’t use Pieces at the end of the day, you use it when something interesting, scary, exciting etc is happening. When you reach for a camera to capture the moment, grab Pieces and save it forever. Think of it as a personal twitter, it’s your life one moment at a time. Because each ‘piece’ is interesting, you are more inclined to go back and read it, compared to say a journal where you note down every mundane task that was completed on that day. When sitting around with a couple mates and a few drinks, grab Pieces out and reminisce all the crazy, stupid, exciting things that you have done together.

Head to the Pieces website to check out  all the neat features of the new application. If you like it, don’t forget to drop a little review or rating on iTunes :) I hope you like the app, I had fun making it and use it pretty much every day!
